BMX STAR – le Cow-Boy de Saint-Tropez in Monte-Carlo, Monaco with Sport and Dogs!

Sport and Dogs invited le Cow-Boy de Saint-Tropez Eric Marchello with his athletic little dog Hoppy to perform in Monte-Carlo who is back in his BMX bike after just being recovered from serious injury.

Sport and Dogs honours the great athletes and brings you stories about them and their dogs.

BMX is one of the toughest and demanding sports where physical strength and great skills are needed.

BMX started in the late 1960s in California, around the time that motocross became a popular sport in the USA. BMX racing offered exciting action at a low cost and the sport became an instant hit. There are all sorts of competitive BMX sports including racing and stunt BMX, but is also an activity enjoyed by millions of kids throughout the world. Specialized BMX bikes and competitions really evolved because of the active young cyclists who used motocross tracks for fun, racing and stunts.

The International BMX Federation was founded in 1981 and the sport made its Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Freestyle BMX is one of the most popular bicycle motocross stunt riding sport that came into existence in the year 1975. It is an extreme sport which is performed by riders on several well-organised disciplines of BMX racing. However, in other forms of freestyle riding, there are no specific set of rules, skills and creativity. This sport includes various types of tricks in the air and on a BMX bicycle in an extraordinary manner.

Those who were riding BMX in the 80s-90s definitely remember Erick Marchello. An old school BMX freestyle legend in France that won 1989 the fourth place in World Championship and was the vice winner of France in 1990. He quit riding and had 20 years not performing BMX and he finally made a comeback in like he was never away.

Throughout his career, Erick has done BMX freestyle shows all around the world but mainly in Europe. He has performed in England, Germany, Spain, Montenegro, Sicily, Italy, Austria but also in the United States of America. He has participated in TV shows and several newspapers have written about his story. He also has created his own clothing brand suitable for his sport. The BMX Freestyle Show Man Erick Marchello is really in good shape and not only career wise but also physically.

Sport is not the only thing that fits in Marchello’s heart. He is also a warm and kindhearted man who loves dogs. His personal favourite is cute and athletic Yorkshire named Hoppy who sometimes likes to join him in his BMX stunts.

Erick is very happy about his dog Hoppy and told: “She eats protein and runs every day in a beach in French Riviera and is in a very good athletic condition like me!”

When we asked from Erick what he is most proud of in his achievements then his answer was:
“I broke my collarbone recently. After a long healing period the titanium pin and 7 screws were removed from my collarbone and three days later I was on a saddle cycling again!”

That’s how passionate old school BMX rider really is to his sport, he never gives up. BMX cycling is definitely an extreme sport and doing BMX stunts and jumps protection is needed. Because of that, it’s even more remarkable that a man over forty is so seriously devoted to an extreme sport and is still capable of performing at a high level. Erick Marchello is a true “forever young” type of guy who lives for his passion. Respect!

Nothing can stop the BMX Old School Legend Erick Marchello! He continues with BMX shows in Paris and across France. Erick Marchello will be performing again on Frejus for the two-wheeled show in 6th and 7th of April. Go and see for yourself!

Sport and Dogs!
